I can’t help but post this. This is the funniest Super Bowl commercial for 2010 in my opinion.

  2. New portfolio site is up and running.

For those of you that still follow my humble little blog here, just an FYI that I have launched a new site as well. This time around it is my portfolio site. It has been a long time coming and I’m excited and relieved to say that it is finally done and ready for the world to see. Stop by and send me a comment or hire me for some work if you’d like.

  3. A couple of apps I'm enjoying.

Working in the web design and development world I am constantly looking for tools to make my workflow more concise and non mundane. Over the last couple of weeks I have latched onto a couple great little apps that are helping me stay on task without having to open a whole different application to do something as trivial as getting a hex color. The software is made by Fuel Collective.

The first of the two software titles I’m going to talk about is Snippet. Snippet is small, lightweight menu bar item that packs a big punch. It does what you would think it does by the name, it holds snippets. All those little snippets of javascript you use all the time and wish you could use them on the fly no matter what editor you are using. Those CSS hacks for IE specific style sheets that you tend to always forget and have to google for. Or just anything you would want get at quickly and hassle free without leaving your keyboard is what Snippet is for. It has a great interface and adding new snippets is really easy. Check out a screencast of Snippet in action here. I will definitely be buying a license for this since my 15 day trial ran out… but a license is only $12.95!

The second is also by Fuel Collective, it is called Swatch. Swatch is an app for collecting color swatches in collections which are stored right in your menubar. Need to grab a quick hex color for that awesome new web app your building or are you using a photo editor like Acorn that doesn’t have very robust hex value support? Swatch would be a great tool for you to try. It has come in handy quite a few times for me recently. Give it a try. For $4.95 you can’t beat it’s helpfulness IMO.

The Fuel Collective guys are making some really kick ass apps and they have another one in the mist as well called PunchClock. I’m looking forward to seeing what that little app has in store. It may be the project timer solution I have been looking/waiting for.

  6. tumblr. for my blog

Well, I said Sporadic Nonsense would be back, I just didn’t realize in what form until the last few days. I see a lot of folks using tumblr. for their personal blogs. I have had an account for quite some time but never used it. I kept telling myself, to pick a CMS already and get the nonsense rolling once again, well it has yet to happen. I could make excuses, but in the end it wouldn’t matter. So I have decided to put Sporadic Nonsense on tumblr and see how it goes. There is nothing to install. Very low maintenance. This may get me posting more again too since there is an iPhone app and everything. We shall see. It seems it would fit perfectly with my sporadic ways of posting to a blog these days. Anyway, TTFN!
